Hiking in Scheifling

From the center of Oberzeiring, the path first leads up to the Habring saddle. Following hiking trail 500, it then goes downhill towards Unzmarkt. Those who have time can visit Frauenburg, which is visible north of Unzmarkt. In the Mur valley, the path follows the Murtal bike path to our stage destination in Teufenbach.

From the Czech border crossing Wullowitz (Freistadt) across beautiful Austria to the Slovenian border crossing Seebergsattel (Eisenkappel). On foot by the shortest route mainly on country paths and trails with as few road kilometers as possible.

Via the locally named "ORF road", you can get from the valley to the panoramic summit area in the Murtal region at an altitude of 1743 meters above sea level.

Der Mariazeller Gründerweg verbindet das Benediktinerstift St. Lambrecht im Naturpark Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen und die Basilka in Mariazell. Aufgrund seiner zum Teil doch recht anspruchsvollen Etappen und Höhenunterschiede ist er nur für erfahrene Pilger, Wallfahrer und Weitwanderer geeignet. Neben kulturhistorischen Höhepunkten, wie das St. Lambrecht und die Abtei Seckau, erwartet uns auch eine einmalige Naturlandschaft, die uns für all die körperlichen Mühen entlang dieses Pilgerweges entschädigen wird.

The St. Lambrecht - Scheifling route is a section of the 192-kilometer Mariazell Founders' Trail and leads from St. Lambrecht Abbey in Murau to Teufenbach and on to Scheifling.

This tour leads from the village of Perchau am Sattel over the Kreuzeck-Höhe to the ruin Steinschloss.

The Mariazeller Gründerweg (Mariazell Founders' Trail) connects the Benedictine Abbey of St. Lambrecht in the Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park and the Basilka in Mariazell. Due to its sometimes quite demanding stages and differences in altitude, it is only suitable for experienced pilgrims, pilgrimage travellers and long-distance hikers. In addition to cultural and historical highlights, such as St Lambrecht and Seckau Abbey, a unique natural landscape awaits us, which will compensate us for all the physical exertion along this pilgrimage route.

From the cyclist bridge in Unzmarkt via the Wallersbachgraben to the Schwarzkogel. Then back to Unzmarkt via the Stierzipf. Wonderful views over the Mur valley to Scheifling and Wallersbach.
