The main hiking trail Vienna - Lower Austria was once a connecting path between the two federal states, stretching across the southern Vienna Basin. With a length of 126 kilometers and few elevation meters, it was once a great introduction to long-distance hiking life. However, due to its monotony, it was not popular with all hikers. For several years it has not been maintained and has also disappeared from long-distance hiking literature. Only a few remaining markings and signs recall the path once known as long-distance trail 888.
