Hiking in Mojácar

WARNING! Route in project phase not yet signposted.  The Garrucha - El Rocío Trail comprises 27 stages.

A route providing a rare opportunity to walk close to the sea, away from built-up areas. The coast is not unlike many in Britain, with the sea beating on the rocks by the road side.

Mojacac Playa is an elongate built-up area along a section of the Mediterranean coast, a typical ‘seaside resort’ with an attractive mixture of hotels, apartments, shops and other buildings, all linked by a long marine drive.

A straightforward route hugging the cliff sides, offering spectacular sea views. The route begins at the end of the promenade of Mojácar, about seven metres above sea level, on the right bank of Alfaix boardwalk mouth, next to the Indalo Hotel.

This route offers an extension to the 'HPB Alfaix: Two Towers Walk' for the more ambitious. A good footpath climbs the high ground which separates the Mojacar to Carboneras road from the sea, winding its way along the crest before terminating close to a high point.

An easy walking, part circular route along the trackbed of the former mineral railway, linking the mines around Bedar with the port at Garrucha. The return part of the loop has some ascent, giving good long views. The entire route is good underfoot.
