Hiking in Launstroff

Route south of Orscholz including the Saarschleife. The route passes through the villages of Dreisbach, Weiler, Büdingen, Wellingen, Wehingen, Büschdorf, Hellendorf, Tünsdorf, Orscholz.

From Place d'Ingrandes in Waldwisse to the chapels of Betting, Flatten, and Gongelfang. The route is not marked; you need a map or GPS track to follow it.

At the height of the Saargau on this side and the other side of the border with France, there is the path "Stones on the Border" or "Route des Menhirs." This route covers part of it.

Varied tour over the Saargau heights into the neighboring old Lorraine. Many panoramic paths with distant views. Quiet and solitude characterize this hike.

The 12.6 km long hike starts at the church in Wellingen and leads on paved farm roads past some of the "Stones at the Border" to Scheuerwald. Here begins a section on partly muddy field paths, until the road leading into Launstroff is reached again. Passing the church, one comes onto the Route of the Menhir, a sculpture trail on which sculptors from France to Japan have collaborated.

Scenic tour through the Saargau-Lorraine region. The highlight of the hike is Malbrouck Castle in Manderen (Manderen en Moselle, Lorraine).  Silence and solitude characterize this hike. The tour also leads to the heights above Wehingen, the Kewelsberg, with a wonderful panoramic view of the Black Forest High Forest and the Merzig Basin.
