Hiking in Koppigen

Relaxing hike on the old Märitweg through magnificent forests into the fertile farmland on the lower Emme. Impressive is the transition from the wooded, sparsely populated hill country north of Burgdorf into the wide, traffic-dominated flatland. Beautiful views of the long forest ridge of the Bucheggberg and the Jura. Hard surface rarely encountered outside towns.

Beautiful hike without large altitude differences from the granary of old Bern over gentle, wooded hills into the lovely Önz valley. Along the way, you gain an insight into the diversity of the landscape charms of Oberaargau, which is neither geographically nor politically clearly defined. Also, some sections outside town on hard surfaces.

The first crime hike takes us to the Oberaargau. In Friedrich Glauser's novel, Sergeant Studer investigates the murder case at a horticultural school. Glauser called the fictional place Oeschberg with the retirement home at the forest edge "Pfründlisberg."
