Hiking in Kojšov

We visit the spectacular panoramas of Kojsói-havas and the main ridge of the Gömör-Szepes Ore Mountains from historic Aranyida. Along the way, we pass Carpathian beech forests, blueberry fir groves, and a genuine mountain hotel within easy reach of the border and the city of Košice.

We climb a ridge route with sporting value and historical significance to the pine-forested panoramic peak of Kojsói-havas above Košice, and halfway there we can use a renovated shelter offering dining and lodging. Along the way, we encounter the diverse mountains of the Gömör-Szepesi Ore Mountains with clearings, pine and beech forests, and at the end of our trip, we explore the ore-rich Ida stream valley that enriches the region.

Jakub's route is an interesting pilgrimage trail that starts in the village of Vyšný Klatov and leads to the historic mining town of Gelnica in southern Spiš.

The SNP is a famous and challenging route in Slovakia. It has a long historic backround and its importance in WWII is a source of pride and identity. Someone who walks the SNP often receives the respect of local people and is greeted with a smile and thumb up. In the East the path starts at the Dukla Pass on the border to Poland traverses different mountain ranges with the highest peaks in the Lower Tatras and ends at the border with Austria in Devin just West of the capital Bratislava.
