From the unique Schlögener View we hike past the Zeller Monument and two historical castle ruins into the Eferding Basin and visit the gravesite of the peasant war leaders.

This stage takes us from Eferding in the center of the fertile Eferding Basin to the Danube, then along the mighty river and through its floodplains to Wilhering on the Danube. Along the way, we discover one of Austria's oldest towns, the Danube as a waterway, the significance of the navigation signs, the giant fish of the Danube, the ancient settlement area of Wilhering, ...

From Eferding, it goes through the vegetable landscape to the Peasants' War Monument Emlinger Holz, to the "Predigtstuhl" in the scenic landscape of Scharten and to Wallern/Trattnach.

Exciting circular route with 12 stations (scenic, stroller accessible, wheelchair accessible, with dining options, family-friendly, child-friendly, cultural/historical).

Hardly any other region is as varied as the Danube region in Upper Austria. From the wooded riverbanks in the Upper Danube Valley to the fertile plains of the Eferding Basin and Machland to the rugged rock formations in the once feared Strudengau. The breathtaking natural landscape must be conquered step by step, with incredible panoramic views of the river from above.

Donausteig – simply fantastic! On this stage we experience the wonderful Eferdinger Basin from various perspectives. From Aschach on the Danube, we hike in large meanders through the cultivated plain, over the wooded ridge on the western edge, back to the Danube, and finally to Eferding in the center of the basin. Along the way, we discover the historic Danube market of Aschach, quadrangular farms perfected to completion, the largest castle ruin in Upper Austria, the death place of St. Wolfgang, the third oldest city in Austria, ...

From the large free car park at the Erlebnisbad Eferding, a generous route leads around the beautiful Eferding.

After starting at the Shalom Franciscan Monastery Pupping, the stage initially follows a section of the Aschach to the Danube and then into the town of Eferding, the center of the extensive Danube basin. Through lush vegetable fields, it then goes back to the Danube and to the Cistercian Monastery Wilhering.

The first stage along the Danube starts at Wilhering Monastery and initially follows the Danube Trail along the great river. Later it goes south and really through the vegetable land of the Eferding basin and directly through the town of Eferding. After a short detour to the Danube, you reach the Shalom Franciscan Monastery Pupping.
