At the beginning, the route develops in a beech forest, mainly downhill, up to the glaciers where there is a bivouac with 4 beds and light, a stream, and a barbecue area. After the glaciers, the shaded areas thin out until reaching a long green ravine up to the Passo di Pietra Tagliata; from here starts a short but steep via ferrata of about 20 meters with steel cables. Then you climb almost vertically up to the Alpe di Succiso. From here you descend to Costa up to Casatola and then again up to the Passo Scalucchia.

Through the 'Park of a Hundred Lakes'West of Passo di Lagastrello, the Ice Age glaciers left countless lakes of all sizes and shapes in the Apennines. On this tour through the 'Parco dei 100 Laghi' you will see some of them – some up close, others from the airy Apennine main ridge. A solitary approach to an impressive and partly exposed ridge. Return via old paths and abandoned roads. The European long-distance trail E1 forms the ascent, and the ridge and the return path are a variant of this long-distance trail.

The circular hike begins at Passo Cerreto, where you can stop for food and drink. However, it can also be started and finished in Sassalbo, then you have places to stop along the way.
You travel through the shady forest for more than half of the route. Many paths are often heavily overgrown, so long pants are recommended.
After Sassalbo, some tracking sense is needed in the wide riverbed. But with the GPS track, it should work well.
