The hike is planned as a circular route. It is not signposted. To enable access by public transport, the start and end are on the same path. The route leads through the village up to the upper Kuhstall, a field/forest landscape. From here you have a beautiful panoramic view. Afterwards, it goes back down into the Schwülletal and then returns to the station.

On the old volcanic mountain Bramburg there is a large basalt quarry. In the middle of the forest stands the Friwohler church ruins, the stony remains of a medieval village. An impressive castle complex can then be seen in Adelebsen.

To the Friwoler Church RuinsThe "Bramburg" here is not a medieval fortress, but a former volcanic cone where basalt extraction has been carried out since the 19th century. Thus, the mountain is geologically closely related to other hills in the southern Lower Saxony area, such as Grefenburg, Backenberg, or Hoher Hagen. On our circular tour from Lödingsen, especially at the beginning and towards the end, the views can wander far into the distance. The coziest spot is found along the way at the Friwoler church ruins, which testify to a medieval village foundation in this seclusion. In the crisis times of the mid-14th century (mainly caused by worsening climate conditions and a devastating plague epidemic), Friwol was abandoned and fell into ruin.
