A scenic and rewarding hike around the highest mountain of the Elster Mountains - with beautiful views, idyllic hiking trails, and legendary stories along the way.

Legendary stories around Kapellenberg This stage offers a lot of variety and some legendary stories around Bad Brambach. The hike runs mainly on natural forest and field paths directly along the Czech border.

On the occasion of Robert Schumann's 200th birthday in 2019, the hiking trail between Bad Elster and Asch was named the Love Trail as part of the EU project "Youth, Love and Music".

The South Trail of Via Czechia is the second longest hiking route in Czechia. The 1,050 km long trail connects easternmost  and westernmost points of Czechia. South Trail passes through 15 mountain ranges and geographical areas, over 6 protected landscape areas, 2 national parks, many historical towns and countless national nature reserves and natural monuments. If you complete the whole trail, you will have climbed over 20 peaks higher than 1,000 meters and set foot on the easternmost, southernmost and westernmost points of Czechia.

From Bad Brambach to Bad Elster on 16.10.2016

The East Route (55 km) starts at the Dreiländereck Bavaria / Bohemia / Saxony east of Regnitzlosau (district Hof). It leads with slight elevation changes and mostly through dense forest along the state border to the Czech Republic to the pilgrimage church Kappl near Waldsassen.

On the hike, you will pass the listed monument site Raun, spa town Bad Brambach with Wettin spring (strongest radon drinking spring in the world), Kapellenberg, Schönberg Castle
