Hello hiking friends, The described hike starts in Fichtelberg-Neubau where we also stayed. For simplicity, I chose the start at the summit of Ochsenkopf to exclude the chairlift ride from the route. The great thing about this route is that the circular hike can be started anywhere along the trail. In Neubau, Fleckl, Bischofsgrün, Karches or at Fichtelsee. Have fun, wishes you Uwe

▶ From the parking lot in Fleckl 01 near the Ochsenkopf-Südcable car, we climb a few steps up at the Gasthaus Ochsenkopf 02 and head uphill on a rather root-strewn path next to the partially man-made MTB downhill track through the sparse forest. At some large boulders, we cross the MTB trail (caution!), and a short while later we cross a gravel forest road and follow the blue-and-white trail markers straight ahead uphill. The narrow, rocky, and partly root-covered path is interspersed with rocks and leads steadily uphill through the forest to the next intersecting forest road. Across from it is the covered shelter pavilion at Pos.  Fürstenbrunnen 03. The Ochsenkopf Trail leads straight past the hut on a steeper, rocky path. After a right-hand switchback, the path initially levels off somewhat, then climbs again in steeper switchbacks to a forest road; continue straight ahead on a somewhat flatter but rockier path to the next gravel road, which we follow to the left. The tall transmission tower is already visible from here. A short time later, we pass it and find ourselves in front of the Asenturm 04 and the summit restaurant. On the descent, we follow the “Black M” toward the Weißmainfelsen. Passing the turnoff to the Goethefelsen, we hike down the rocky path, come to a gravel path, keep to the right, and head toward the shelter hut at the Weißmain spring (which lies a few meters below on the left).Immediately after the shelter, we turn right and climb a root-covered path up to the imposing Weißmainfelsen 05, which can be ascended via steps secured with railings. Great view to the south. From the lookout point, we continue down to the right, cross a gravel road, and, keeping to the right at a fork, reach the Fichtelnaab spring 06, with a shelter. On a flat trail, we come to a small gravel road leading downhill to the left (blue dot) and then to a forest road ascending to the right. After a short uphill stretch past some rocks, we reach the turnoff to the left leading to the Steinach spring 07.Back on the main trail, after a left-hand hairpin turn, we continue to follow the blue dot along a grassy path into the forest and descend in switchbacks toward Fleckl. We then follow a wider path crossing our route to the right, leaving it to take a narrower trail that winds its way down through the forest. Shortly before the marked downhill trail, we rejoin the outbound route, and, passing the Ochsenkopfhaus 02, we reach the parking lot in Fleckl 01 at the valley station of the Ochsenkopfbahn.
