What is Vintl's altitude?
The municipality of the Pustertal, known for its hiking trails, consists of the villages of Niedervintl, Obervintl, Weitental and Pfunders and a few scattered individual houses and small hamlets. The municipal area starts at an altitude of 722 metres and goes up to the 3263-metre-high Unterer Weißzint - so there is plenty of room for all kinds of great hiking adventures of varying degrees of difficulty.

Popular hiking routes around Vintl
Do you like hiking through the beautiful nature of South Tyrol and enjoy a new, breathtaking view at every turn? Then put on your hiking boots and set off on a circular walk that is one of the most beautiful hikes in the region around Vintl. You hike along firm paths, through the forest, across meadows and partly also along stony mountain paths to the Kiener Alm - always along the southern flank of the Gitschberg. For the route, which starts at the valley station of the Gitschberg cable car and is easy to reach by car or public transport, you need about three hours of pure walking time and an average level of fitness.
If you are travelling with children, the Elfenweg near Obervintl is one of the hikes you should not miss. Easily accessible hiking trails lead through the forest for a good 3 kilometres. On the way there are many signposts and information about flora and fauna, you pass a deer enclosure and can finally make a detour to a roaring waterfall on the way back. Especially in summer, the Elfenweg is a highly recommended hike.
Hikes for mountaineers in Vintl
If you are in good shape and sure-footed, you have a huge choice of mountain hikes and via ferratas around Vintl - strenuous but absolutely worthwhile. How about a hiking addventure over the Eidechsspitze, the imposing lookout peak? The somewhat longer circular route from Terenten via the Eidechsspitze to the Tiefrastenhütte is also recommended for experienced and sure-footed hikers with summit ambitions. For the 18 kilometres and 1,500 metres of ascent and descent, you should plan on about seven hours of pure walking time.
All those who enjoy hiking for several days will enjoy the Pfunderer Höhenweg. Here, alpine experience including climbing ability and a head for heights is a prerequisite.
