A circular route leading from the center of the volcano through the Priehybina saddle to the highest peak along the ridge to the Jasenová saddle and from there down to Kyslinky. We will overcome a gentle ascent of 700 elevation meters and an even gentler descent of 700 meters down. The only steep climb is from Priehybina 1270 m above sea level to Zadná Poľana 1458 m above sea level. The hike should be planned for the whole day. It takes about 8 hours. The environment is perfect, the summit parts lead through the Zadná Poľana primeval forest.

Bystrá – Bystrianska Jaskyňa – Through Natural Landscapes to a Treasure Chamber

The tour winds through beautiful mixed forests, across vast, green mountain meadows, and past fascinating viewpoints overlooking the highest peaks of the Low Tatras. A cozy mountain hut invites you to linger. The top attraction is the Bystrianska Jaskyňa Cave; which was formed by the waters of the underground Bystrianka River. Exploration began in 1923; in 1926, speleologists entered the cave for the first time via the Peklo Gorge. The tour route is 580 m long, and the air temperature ranges between 5.7° and 7°C. The most beautiful chamber in the cave is the Treasure Chamber—Klenotnica. This hike is the perfect experience for the whole family.> From the parking lot and bus stop in the village of Bystrá01 (530 m), we head south across the bridge and past the Penzión Bystrinka. At the next intersection, we take a sharp left, passing the exit to the Bystrianska jaskyňa cave. At a covered picnic area, the paved road turns into a trail that leads across meadows to a stream. This path runs romantically along the bank; on a short section, it is secured by a railing. We walk past several bridges until we reach a very rickety-looking bridge02 (561 m) with a railing. For further orientation: There is a power pole in the immediate vicinity. From this bridge, we turn right and follow the marked hiking trail. It climbs extremely steeply through the deep forest without any switchbacks. We leave the forest behind and walk off-trail across mountain meadows for about 200 m, passing a solitary house on the left. Shortly afterward, looking north toward the edge of the forest, we see the cozy Dedečkova chata03 (825 m). After stopping for a break, we now head south—almost a 180° turn from the ascent—and pass the solitary house on the left (the same one we passed on the way there). On the wide mountain ridge, we follow the vehicle track. From our position, we can see a chairlift on the left side of the mountain; looking north, we have a direct view of the main ridge of the Low Tatras. The trail winds in a long right-hand curve past a small shelter. This is followed by a short descent to the first saddle. Where the trail forks, we continue straight ahead, now slightly uphill again. We pass a large, striking beech tree before the trail leads through a clearing. In the following section of forest, the trail descends to a junction and Saddle04 (689 m). We do not ascend directly along the steep path but instead head downhill to the right, toward the cave. At the next fork in the trail, we take a slight right, passing a power pole. At another fork, we again take a slight right and pass another power pole on the right. Shortly before the end of the hike, we rejoin the trail we took on the way there. If you turn left at this intersection, you’ll reach the Bystrianska jaskyňa cave05 (556 m), which is well worth seeing. After visiting the cave, walk just a few meters back along the trail you took on the way there to return to the starting point.
