Hikes in Tornac

This hike takes us up Lacan—a mountain offering a fantastic view of the town of Anduze and the Gardon River. The strenuous climb is well worth it. However, you should avoid this hike if it’s raining.> We start at the “La Madeleine”01 parking lot and head toward Château de Tornac. The trail leads us uphill until just before the château. We’ll save a tour of the exterior for the return trip. We keep to the right toward the “Petit Bosc” signpost02 and head in the direction of Anduze. The well-marked trail leads us through a holm oak forest to the “Tavion” signpost. We continue toward the old mill (l’Ancien Moulin03). A small road takes us downhill and through a residential area. Afterward, we hike along a trail to a country road and on to the mill. We head uphill on a narrow road, always in the direction of “les Roulottes.” Following a stream, we reach “Le Pontet.” There, we leave the white-and-red markings behind. The yellow markers lead us across a stream twice and continue uphill through a pine forest. After passing an old stone house, a steep climb begins. Using our hands for support, we climb up to Lacan04 and can enjoy a magnificent view. At the Point de Vue de Lacan05, we turn left. Via “Le Marel,” we make our way through wooded terrain to the stone house “Maison des Éclaireurs”06. We leave the forest trail straight ahead toward “Puech la Garde,” which we reach via a washed-out path. We continue downhill along a stone wall toward Petit Bosc02, which we recognize from the way there. We make a detour to the Château de Tornac07 and then follow signpost02 back to the parking lot01.
