Riparian Forest Walk in the Walgau On this carefree stroll, you can fully enjoy the solitude of the vast riparian forest. A historical curiosity on the side: Until 1804, Bludesch, together with the municipalities of Ludesch, Thüringen, and Thüringerberg, was an extraterritorial area of the Weingarten Monastery.

From Thüringen downstream along the Lutz (past the recycling center and Wucher Helicopter) via the hiking trail (forest road) to the junction over the ruins of Blumenegg to Thüringerberg and up there. After the church/village center of Thüringerberg, the asphalt road (trail marking yellow-white Tschöppa, Gassneralpe), past mountain meadows and isolated farms uphill. In the forest, on the forest road (Tschöppaweg) higher, up to the fork at about 1450 at a wooden hut. Keep right towards Gassneralpe until after 100m (hunter's stand) a path branches off upwards to the left which leads us to the Rottobel. At the very back in the Rottobel, the small stream is crossed, leading us to the access road to the Gassneralpe which lies 100 meters higher.
Descent to St. Gerold and over the interesting Gstinsweg again down through the Rottobel to the Lutz, where the forest road, past the dam/power plant, leads out to Thüringen. It is also recommended to do this tour in reverse, i.e. via Gstinsweg, St. Gerold, Gassneralpe up and over Thüringerberg, ruins of Blumenegg back down.
Warning: The path between Rottobel and Tschöppaweg should not be used when wet or snowy due to risk of falling.
