The route leads from the campground up to Roc la Tour, alternating between trails and forest paths. Once you reach the rocks, you can decide for yourself how much time you’d like to spend there—perhaps even trying your hand at a bit of rock climbing. There’s a great view to top it off.
The route continues down into the valley and briefly through Monthermé, which is, of course, another possible starting point for the tour.
The subsequent ascent, initially toward the 4 fils Aymont, follows narrow, beautiful trails, with occasional views of the Meuse River along the way.
From the plateau, the route follows a narrow ridge trail that even has a bit of a via ferrata feel to it in some sections. Absolutely stunning!
The subsequent descent back to the Semois is no less exciting.
