Hikers can expect a beautiful and unforgettable circular route near Reichenbach in Frau-Holle-Land, located within the triangle formed by Hessisch Lichtenau, Spangenberg, and Waldkappel. On narrow mostly natural paths, the hiking trail leads through the Meißner Nature Park. With a good panoramic view over the landscape, the route passes through species-rich forest areas and open cultural landscapes. A circular hiking route that can hardly be more beautiful and varied, with many remarkable natural experiences and historical highlights. The Art on the Hiking Trail »Ars Natura – Art on the Hiking Trail« was launched as a millennium project in 2000 with the aim of incorporating the landscape, primarily along major long-distance hiking routes, into the presentation principle of art. On the section of the Barbarossa Trail between Melsungen and Spangenberg, one can experience the implementation of this idea excellently. Those who also want to admire the historic building fabric of both towns should preferably start the ambitious circular hike at the former Melsungen Castle.
Wickersrode / Between the meadows you go to Wickersrode, over the stream to the early classical half-timbered church from the year 1796 and then right on the Triescher Weg back out of the village.

In the bright Riedforst South of Hessisch Lichtenau, the eastern Riedforst rises, crowned by well-shaped forest ridges and intersected by charming valley floors. In the middle lies the dreamy Reichenbach, which has made a name for itself far and wide with its monastery church and its significant castle ruins. Reichenbach therefore forms the center of the following Riedforst circular hike, which features additional sights such as the natural monument Große Steine and Hellkopfer Lake.
