Whether in Sever do Vouga or the surrounding areas along the seven parishes of the municipality, you will find many walking trails through the Serra do Arestal, Maciço da Gralheira, Vale do Rio Vouga and other sites with natural heritage classified under the Rede Natura. Short, easy and very pleasant. The São Tiago Walking Trail, with rural and forest characteristics, passes (as it should) by the sixteenth-century São Tiago Chapel.
The Cabreia and Braçal Mines Trail is another highly recommended walk in Sever do Vouga for hiking. It starts and ends at the Cabreia Leisure Park. The route consists of three variants offering three alternatives, with different lengths, the longest of which (about 10 kilometers) allows passage within the perimeter of the Malhada and Braçal Mining Complex, past old water mills and, of course, past one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Portugal, the Cabreia Waterfall!
Stunning hikes that fill the eye and soul
The Orange Tree Route starts and ends at the square of the São Martinho Main Church, in Pessegueiro do Vouga, and from there heads to the Calvary where you can get an excellent panoramic view of the surrounding places. The Orange Tree Route also passes by the Santa Quitéria Chapel, the old Vouga railway line, Poço São Tiago Bridge, and the Quinta do Barco River Beach.
One of the very diverse walking trails is the PR7 - Agualva Trail. With many points of interest. From rural villages, to agricultural fields, irrigation channels, reservoirs, waterfalls, dams and bridges that cross rivers towards other banks.
The Mill Trail is an invitation to immerse yourself in the natural beauties of Sever do Vouga, through pine, eucalyptus and oak trees, but also through agricultural lands, orange trees, vineyards and blueberries, on walking trails along the water of the Carrazedo Stream.
Before the construction of the Walkways on the Gresso River, this trail did not attract many walkers. Nowadays it is part of the top hikes in Sever do Vouga. The Gresso Trail passes through forest paths and villages of the parish of Rocas do Vouga, and ends (or can start) at the walkways that cross the river from one bank to the other.
