From Høvringen to the Peer Gynt cabin. Past the beautifully located lake Høvringsvatne, we ascend the Solsidevassberget from its tame northern side over pathless meadow terrain.
The day cabin at Mikkellykkja is an easily accessible hiking destination near Otta center. From the town center and up, it is 1.6 km. The terrain is steep but with a clear and prepared path. This is a route that takes you through important industrial history in Otta.
Moderate circular route in beautiful scenery in Rondane National Park, Norway's oldest national park. The path runs flat along a long-distance trail popular among Norwegians, past a beautiful small canyon. The destination is the Peer-Gynt Cabin (self-catering), which blends surprisingly well into the landscape. The return goes quietly on a remote path through a wide valley. This hike does not present any special difficulties and is pleasant to walk by Norwegian standards. Good hiking boots are recommended due to stones (risk of twisting ankles) and swampy-wet sections. Last but not least, there are quite good chances of spotting reindeer especially on the way back.

To the second highest Rondane summitThe rock colossus Storronden is the second highest peak in Rondane National Park. It is accessible via a trail that leads up from the Rondvassbu lodge through mostly coarse slab and scree terrain with excellent views almost all the way.
To the highest Rondane summitThe Rondslottet is the highest peak of the Rondane mountain range and one of the most scenic mountains in Scandinavia. From the Rondvassbu hostel, the ascent leads over the Vinjeronden, which also offers an unforgettable panorama and is a worthwhile independent summit target. In wet conditions and/or fresh snow, which can fall even in summer, one should only climb up to Vinjeronden.
