    Sehr schöne Tour, auch bei sonnigem Wetter (1. Mai). Das Kloster am Startpunkt ist sehr idyllisch gelegen mit hübscher Kirche (man sollte einen Blick reinwerfen). Zwischendurch breite Forstwege und etwas Asphaltstrecke, die man mit Radfahrern teilen muss (ehemalige Bahnstrecke). Dann aber wunderschöne Waldpfade und Uferwege, für die teilweise etwas Trittsicherheit erforderlich ist. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!

    Eine der schönsten Etappen des Westerwaldsteiges startet in Horhausen vorbei an Weiden mit Rindern und Rotwild, einem geheimnisvollen Tunnel durch einen Berg. Danach folgt man schönen, schmalen Pfädchen durch den Wald, entlang der Wied bevor man auf sehr schön hergerichteten Rastplätzen, den Ausblick ins Tal genießen kann. Nach dem traumhaften Manrother See, können am Weitblick Bertenau die Blicke in der Ferne des Naturparks Rhein-Westerwald schweifen. Danach überquert man bei Neustadt/Wied die Autobahn A3. Es geht weiter durch Wald und Wiesen bis nach Strauscheid, wo sich eine Einkehr- und Übernachtungsmöglichkeit bietet.

    Die Tour startete ich am Sonntag in der Früh um kurz nach 06:00 Uhr und zwar von Strauscheid aus. Die morgendliche Ruhe wurde jedoch hin und wieder durch ferne Schüsse unterbrochen was meinen Enthusiasmus für diesen Tag nicht bremsen konnte und so folgte ich dem gut ausgeschilderten Weg. Abwechslungsreich über Straßen, Schotterwege, Wiesenwege, und Trampelpfade mal Auf und ab ist diese Strecke wahrlich nicht als langweilig oder einfach zu bezeichnen. Schöne Fernblicke , Waldpassagen oder auch mal entlang eines Bachtal machten die Wanderung zu einem schönen Erlebnis. Einziger Manko dieser Strecke ist die Anbindung an die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel die mich immer wieder als Einzel-Wanderer vor Problemen stellt so bin ich nach Erreichen von Horhausen die Tour auch wieder Zurück gewandert. Genauso schön nur wesentlich mehr gefordert wie auf der Hintour erreichte ich um ca. 17:00 Uhr das auf mich wartende Auto. Eine schöne Strecke die man sicherlich empfehlen kann.
