The Benther Berg is a ridge mostly covered with deciduous forest, almost completely surrounded by a forest edge path. This path is mostly scenic, car-free, and fairly flat. In the western (further from the city) parts of the circular path, it is also child-friendly because you can find not only flatter paths but sometimes a climbing tree as well. Optionally, you can start at various places, stop for a break, extend the route, or shorten it not only at the starting point by crossing over the "Berg". All this makes Benther Berg one of the most popular hiking and biking areas for people from Hanover.

Start in Holtensen, Bergstraße at the edge of the village. Saddendorfer Weg - after 1 km turn left uphill to the forest. Short stretch through the forest, take a slight left bend and return to Meyerkampweg. Almost straight ahead to the Hexenhaus. After a few meters, return the same way, turn right onto Lüderser Weg - straight ahead back to the starting point.

Gourmet hike in the Calenberger Loess PlateauSlightly elevated, the wooded Benther Mountain appears on the southwestern city outskirts of Hanover – a compact but valuable natural oasis in the fertile, heavily agricultural Calenberger Loess Plateau. The circuit around the Benther Mountain is also popular with cyclists and joggers – for us, it represents an easy gourmet hike, especially since the term »gourmet« can certainly also refer to physical well-being at a handful of dining options. Since we mostly stay directly at the forest edge, open views are almost permanent.

On the Kansteinweg to the foreland of the DeisterAt 173 meters high and relatively manageable in size, the Benther Berg is not a particularly impressive ridge, but it does noticeably tower over its predominantly flat surroundings in the Calenberger Land. The mixed deciduous forests regularly attract those seeking relaxation. The Kansteinweg also crosses the Benther Berg, after previously passing through the area around the Lindener Berg and the Badenstedt district in the southwest of Hanover. However, we temporarily deviate from the original route and hike a good stretch along the Fösse, more in the green. Later on, we also travel along the Gehrdener Berg and thus enter the forefield of the Deister, where the tour will conveniently end in Wennigsen. It is more suited for endurance but can also be done well in partial sections.
