Viewing ramp and high plateausThe Tête Chevalière may not be a very prominent peak, but it is located in a highly attractive section of the high plateaus. The Vallée de Combau in the extreme south-east of the Hauts Plateaux du Vercors also provides the easiest access to the heights of the nature reserve. The valley is known for its unspoiled nature and abundance of flowers: gentian, fire lilies, lady's slipper and an abundance of orchids can be found here, so that special botanical hikes are offered from Nonnières, especially in the mountain springtime. The highlight of this circular hike is certainly the view from the Tête Chevalière of the mighty rock obelisk of Mont Aiguille and the ridge walk along the wild edge of the precipice back to the Cabane de l'Essaure.
