National Park on the provincial borderThe dune area that characterizes this walk is surrounded by commercial forests, heathland and cultivated landscape. In order to give nature more space in this part of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, some of the coniferous forests have been cleared and the nutrient-rich topsoil has been removed from part of the agricultural landscape to allow rare species of the old cultivated landscape to thrive again. The traces of this work can still be seen in places; in a beautiful stream meadow, all traces of earlier straightening and later renaturation work have grown over.

    het is een prachtige route, maar niet toegankelijk voor honden. je komt door een aantal natuurgebieden waar honden niet zijn toegestaan, verder moet zijn er een aantal kleine paden afgesloten door nieuw hekwerk, door de app kun je wel gemakkelijk een alternatief vinden
