Lopau, Luhe, and Prehistoric Burial SitesThis tour offers plenty of water, heathland, and culture. The Lopau and Luhe rivers run alongside the two long-distance hiking trails, Heidepuzzle and Lila Krönung, on their respective first stages as they head east. The landscape is varied, featuring heathland as well as several prehistoric burial sites with artifacts dating from the Neolithic through the Iron Age. With the exception of a short section near Soderstorf, both long-distance hiking trails follow the same route.

Round hike near Amelinghausen with heath and dolmensThe highlights of this tour - burial ground and paradise - are impressive heath landscapes. The Marxener Paradise is aptly named; a small-scale, multifaceted idyllic valley with heath, juniper, and a moor pond. At the more than 5000-year-old Oldendorf burial ground, you can expect prehistoric tombs, the excavation finds of which can be seen in the museum at the starting point. Otherwise, the route goes through forest as well as along fields and the banks of the Lopau and Luhe. Shortly before the Kronsberg heath, a detour is possible to the Lopau reservoir and further on to Amelinghausen.
