Mitterfels - Hörmannsberg (short version) Circular route starting from Mitterfels, always following the marking 4. It goes a few meters uphill along Burgstraße from the St. Georg church. Then turn left onto a small footpath. Shortly after, we reach Friedhofweg and stand at the large Straubinger street. Here, we turn left and follow it for a few hundred meters. Then it goes right towards Höfling. A concrete slab path leads down into the valley. Passing Höfling and Auhof, we reach the lowest point of today's route. Now it goes uphill through the forest towards Weingraben. Here, turn right onto the road and arrive at Hörmannsgrub. Right at the village sign, turn right onto a field path. After a few hundred meters at the signpost, go straight ahead past a house. Over beautiful forest paths and trails, we reach Miething. The path continues downhill, and at a larger crossroads, we keep right and the final ascent begins. We can already see Mitterfels, and via a concrete slab path, we return to Straubinger street. We keep left and cross the traffic light. Now we follow Burgstraße to the end and stand again in front of St. Georg church. Beautiful route over hills and through valleys.

Forecast for Mitterfels

10-day forecast
The area is characterised by its diverse landscapes - from dense forests to rolling hills and spectacular viewpoints. Both experienced hikers and families with children will find suitable routes for unforgettable excursions here.

One of the most beautiful hiking tours in Mitterfels leads to the Schlossberg. The climb up the striking mountain is rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view over the Danube valley. The route is well signposted and is suitable for both experienced hikers and beginners.

Another highlight is the "Felsenwanderung" along the Schwarzach river. This tour takes you along steep rock formations and offers impressive insights into the natural beauty of the surroundings. Especially in spring, when the first flowers bloom, or in autumn, when the leaves change colour, these trails shine in their full splendour.

For families with children, we recommend a walk along the "Waldlehrpfad" (forest nature trail). This educational circular trail leads through the forest and offers a wealth of information about the local flora and fauna. Children can learn through play while exploring nature.

The best seasons for hiking in Mitterfels are spring, summer and autumn. During these months the weather is pleasantly mild, so you can enjoy the beauty of the landscape to the full. In winter, on the other hand, Mitterfels is more suitable for skiing or snowboarding in the nearby Bavarian Forest.
