Towpaths along the Saône Partly along a canal and partly along the natural meanders of the Saône with its small islands and wooded areas, this extensive hike winds through a peaceful, idyllic landscape of fields and cows. A small cultural highlight is a detour to Ray-sur-Saône with its original medieval castle—which was rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries—and the Church of St. Pancras (13th–16th centuries), which features an interesting interior.
