There’s plenty to experience on this hike, which takes you deep into nature, far off the beaten path. From the Großer Geierstein lookout point, we first enjoy a breathtaking view of the Jizera Mountains, including the 1,107-meter-high Stóg Izerski. The ruins of the former Kesselschlossbaude (Skałek Zakochanych) represent a dark chapter of the past. The lodge had 20–30 beds and was used in the 1930s by members of the Berlin-Tempelhof health insurance fund. The Kopalnia św. Jan mine, which operated from 1576 to 1816, can be toured underground. The first section of the exhibition hall provides information on the history of mining in the region. Visitors can also expect interesting exhibits and a selection of minerals.> At the far end of the parking lot in Świeradów-Zdrój 01 , we walk past the small washing station, a short distance along the main street, and then immediately turn left across the Kwista River. In front of the antique steam locomotive, we turn right, follow the road through the left-hand curve, and turn right behind the Zimowy Domek Boutique Rooms. 20 meters past the next left-hand curve, we turn right onto the trail (marked black, green, and blue). Behind a shrine, the trail crosses a paved road twice and, after a longer stretch, crosses a dirt road as well. We arrive at the Sępia Góra 02 ( Great Vulture Rock) lookout point. We continue on past the wooden hut. At the next fork in the trail, we take the path slightly to the right (marked blue). But at the next opportunity, we then turn left onto the grassy dirt road (unmarked). This leads to a paved road, along which we continue downhill. At the fork behind the pond, we keep to the right-hand side, then immediately turn left. We pass a small boundary stone and walk along a grassy trail. At the level of a hunting blind, we cross Mount Zamkowa, which rises to 712 m. After a short descent, our trail ends at a road; turning left, you’ll reach the Skałki Zakochanych 03 viewpoint ( Lovers’ Hill) after a few meters. We walk back to the road and follow it downhill, past the ruins of the former Skałek Zakochanych lodge. At the paved road, we turn left and head downhill, following it through a sharp left-hand curve until we reach the Kopalnia św. mine. Jan 04. Above the mine entrance, a road begins heading west. This road also crosses the stream and, after a long stretch, ends in the village of Kamienna Góra 05. Here we turn left toward the 1,105-meter-high Stóg Izerski (see Tour 17, page 99), easily recognizable by the radio tower and the gondola lift’s upper station. We walk under a very rusty bridge; where there is a “2.5 t” traffic sign, we turn slightly right onto the gravel road, cross the abandoned railroad tracks, and—instead of crossing the river—turn left first. As soon as the back of the shopping center comes into view, we cross the river and arrive at the starting point at the parking lot in Świeradów-Zdrój 01.
