Hikes in Le Chambon

To the Ardèche Plateau and the waterfallsThe Bourges Valley, through which a good portion of the hike runs, has carved its way deep into the Ardèche Plateau. Most spectacular, however, is the point where the small river flows down from the plateau into the valley. At the end of the valley, the Bourges plunges over a massive basalt cliff rising 60 meters high, which was formed during the Tertiary period by lava flows from the Fialouse volcano. This Ray-Pic waterfall, whose clear water splashes over the dark gray rock in the forest, is a major tourist attraction.
