Impressive crossing from Valzeina to SaysThis generous crossing is stimulating and varied, but surefootedness and a head for heights are required. The varied views and outlooks are also motivating. Impressive, for example, are the deep views into the Rhine Valley and the view to the Rätikon. The walking times are not so long as to prevent fit and experienced hikers from also taking in two magnificent lookout peaks: the Mittagplatte at the start of our hike and – as a short detour from the main path – the Medli (Mädli). In both cases, you can enjoy great views, especially of the Rhine Valley! As with almost all crossings or traverses in the area covered by this guide, the return by public transport (post bus and Rhaetian Railway) is possible without major problems, although somewhat inconvenient here. Of course, you can also return to Valzeina (variant); in this case, we recommend climbing an additional peak before descending, the Cyprianspitz (1774 m).

Observation tower on the northern border of Graubünden In a canton where the highest peak surpasses the magical 4000-meter mark and is full of three-thousanders, one might wonder: Can a small summit that only reaches 1478 m offer a worthwhile view?     Wir bestaunten traumhafte Blumenwiesen auf der Hochebene St. Margrethenberg. Die Schweizerfahne neben dem Gipfelkreuz liess Heimatgefühle aufkommen. Wer die steile Treppe zur Aussichtsplattform nicht begehen kann, wird bei Stefis Bergwirtschaft mit der Bündner Bergwelt entschädigt. (Die Bergwirtschaft befindet sich bereits im Kanton Graubünden) Das Buure-Beizli ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet – ein Besuch lohnt sich ebenfalls. Eine richtig gemütliche Wanderung! (swisshans.ch)

    Erste Hälfte bergauf im Wald und über Wiesen. Tolle Aussicht von der Plattform aus, die Treppe ist recht steil und aus Lichtgitter. Die zweite Hälfte leider auf einer (fast verkehrsfreien) Strasse ohne Schatten. Grundsätzlich aber schön zu laufen.
