The approximately 12 km long route begins and ends at the Seehotel Ichlim and leads mostly along natural paths and trails on the shore of the lake. A worthwhile detour is the way to Tralowsee and the church in Krümmel. Despite the lack of signage, the risk of getting lost is very low.

On the Squirrel Trail through the Kratzeburg Small Lakes Area Kratzeburg is one of the quietest spots in the National Park. The circular hike in the northeast of the village leads past small lakes and alder swamps and over the beech-forested Pieverstorfer Mountains, which at 105 m are among the highest elevations in the protected area. The hiking trail is especially appealing in early spring during the anemone bloom.

> We start at the “Zur Blockhütte 01” restaurant on the edge of the Sewekow vacation community in Brandenburg and walk back toward the county road. On the paved walking and biking path, we turn left—toward Sewekow—and soon find ourselves a short distance from the road. At a suitable spot, we take a shortcut and cross the road to trail 02—which is paved at the start and then sandy—beginning on the other side of the road. Immediately to the left lies the large Seekowsee, and to the right, a smaller lake. After about 165 m, just before the trail leads into the forest, we turn right. We have now left Brandenburg and are in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. On the eastern shore of the small lake, we hike southeast, then more to the east—with the forest to our left and meadows to our right. After a short while, we come to the “Rundweg Nebelsee” Trail 03. Continuing straight ahead, we reach the southwestern shore of Lake Nebelsee after a few minutes. We pass a few bungalows and boathouses—there are quite a few turnoffs in this area: if you keep to the right and stay close to the lakeshore, you’ll be on the right track. Soon we pass the first rest area with a stone table, after which we reach the “Platz der sieben Eichen” rest area 04. After a short break, we follow the path—which is sometimes more, sometimes less distinct—along the western shore of Nebelsee. It leads to a wide cross-path, which we follow to the right. We cross the canal between Nebelsee and Thürensee to the north and reach the Nebelsee swimming area 05 a short time later. Thankfully, this beautiful spot exists: Please read the information sign about the “Alphapunkt,” where the Soviet Army practiced bombing runs and which was intended to become a NATO training area. Refreshed and rested, we continue along the lake shore. At a barrier and at the next intersection, we keep to the right each time. The Max Schmeling Memorial Stone 06 commemorates the famous German boxer who spent some time here. Now we follow the only possible path, which heads south at a more or less short distance from the lakeshore and doesn’t lead directly back to the water until just before the “Ablage Nebelsee” bungalow community. We stroll through the bungalow community and follow the wide access road to the intersection south of “Ablage Nebelsee” 07. Here, we continue straight ahead toward Ichlim. We pass a private property and turn right at the next opportunity. The wide path ends at a few wooden houses on the lakeshore—we continue on a narrow trail. We pass more small houses and take a wider path for a short while before the narrow lakeside trail continues above a secludedswimming spot 08. After about 700 m, we enter the grounds of the Seehotel Ichlim 09 through a gate; this is a good place to stop for a break (Mon–Sun from 12:00 p.m., open every day, www.seehotel-ichlim.de). From the hotel’s own swimming spot, we head up the stairs to the building. Across from the parking lot, on the other side of the road, we take the marked trail, which indicates the Kyritz-Ruppiner Heide as a long-distance destination (Tour 31). After about 250 m, it joins a wider forest path, which we follow to the right. We now hike southward and soon approach the eastern shore of Lake Langhagen. We follow it, mostly at a short distance, to a T-intersection in the forest 10, where we turn right. We now walk westward, staying close to the southern shore of Lake Langhagen. Before the bridge over the Klingbach, our route becomes a trail that is sometimes a bit overgrown in the summer. About 100 m further on is a lake access point 11, where many a hiker has enjoyed a swim. We’re now back in Brandenburg. With meadows on the left and trees on the right, we walk northwest. About 500 m past the “wild” swimming spot, the trail splits: We take the right fork, heading toward the Sewekow vacation community, and keep to the right again at the first buildings to stay as close to the lakeshore as possible. Every now and then, boat garages block the view of the water, but we easily find our way to the beautiful swimming spot at Langhagensee 12. Here we can cool off and relax one last time. Finally, we walk a few steps up to the "Am Vogelberg" road. At the sandy turnaround, we take the left path, which initially heads slightly downhill and then climbs gently again as it passes through the settlement. After about 400 m, we arrive at the restaurant “Zur Blockhütte 01,” where we can grab a bite to eat (closed Mondays and Tuesdays; Sundays only until 5 p.m.; www.blockhuette-sewekow.de).
