The Lutherweg 1521 commemorates the route Martin Luther took in 1521 on his way to Worms (and back) when he followed the "invitation" of Emperor Charles V. Not all sections are authentic, but many are, as the path follows centuries-old trade and military roads.

This large nature park is adjacent to the Laubach castle park with its botanical rarities. At its edge is Laubach Castle, built in English style. This fairly long hike takes you through the vast fields and forests between Grünberg and Homberg. We start at the back of the Grünberg train station 1 (Stangenröder Weg) and follow the bike path signs toward “Altstadt.” However, we immediately ignore the bike path that turns right (so we don’t use the underpass) and stay on the small paved road toward “Beltershain.” From here on, the blue ribbon guides us (though, unfortunately, often only sporadically) to our destination. We hike through wide-open fields and continue straight ahead even at the fork in the bike path (blue ribbon). The route passes a shelter and reaches the small village of Stangenrod 2 not far from a horse farm. At Heidestraße, we keep to the right briefly, then follow Hügelstraße out of the settlement. The trail markings, which have now resumedguides us across cross-trails into a small grove, where, after a few meters—with faint markings—we veer right onto an overgrown meadow path. At the numerous forks that follow, pay close attention to the blue markings. Finally, the hike crosses a bike path, passes a beautiful rest area 3, and follows the paved road straight ahead into Atzenhain 4, which has been visible for some time. In the village (where there are places to stop for refreshments), the route turns left at the main road (Lumdastraße) and then keeps to the right before the “Out of Town” sign. The trail goes under the highway, passing an allotment garden and a pond along our little road. About 150 m after this, the trail—marked with the “Erzweg”—turns right onto a paved path in front of the no-entry sign (unfortunately, the blue ribbon is missing here). We now hike through shady greenery, cross a trail junction straight ahead on a hill at Tümmelberg 5, and stay on the main trail. Finally, the route reaches (at an information sign for the Erzweg) the edge of the forest and continues straight ahead on the dirt road. Note: After 150 m, this unmarked path takes a left turn, followed by a right turn after the same distance! Soon on asphalt, the route reaches the country road, turns right here, and then veers left at the edge of the forest toward “Sportplatz.” We stay at the edge of the forest, soon hiking along a somewhat overgrown meadow path, and finally reach a clearly marked forest road, which we follow straight ahead through the forest. At a prominent fork (the main path turns right here), the tour continues straight ahead. We soon emerge from the forest and let a dirt road guide us to the Schadenbach 6, visible from afar, which we reach at the imposing church. The hike now briefly follows the Vorfahrtstraße downhill and then immediately turns onto Teichstraße, which leads us out of the village. The route now follows the RW3 to the scenic hill behind Schadenbach. Ahead, we can already make out our destination, Homberg.A bench at the edge of the idyllic Scholdeswiese 7 invites us to take another break before we cross a bike path intersection straight ahead. On a wide and comfortable path, the blue ribbon and the RW3 signage now guide us down to the first houses of Homberg. At the edge of town, we’re greeted by the historic Pletschmühle 8; the restaurant of the same name across the street offers a self-service station in its garden. We cross the Ohm River and then follow the signs steeply uphill to Homberg’s old town, which surrounds City Hall 9.
