One of the most popular hiking routes in Greifenstein is the "Greifenstein-Rundweg". This approximately 10-kilometre-long circular trail leads along the banks of the Lahn and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. On the way you also pass the imposing Greifenstein Castle, which towers high above the town and is well worth a visit.

Another highlight for hiking enthusiasts is the "Rothaarsteig", a long-distance hiking trail that runs through Greifenstein. The Rothaarsteig stretches over a total of 154 kilometres and leads through diverse landscapes such as forests, high moors and idyllic valleys. From here you can explore various stages of the Rothaarsteig or hike only short sections.

These hikes are particularly suitable in the spring or autumn months, when the temperatures are pleasantly mild and nature unfolds its full splendour. In spring, numerous flowers blossom at the edge of the path and in autumn, colourful deciduous forests bathe the surroundings in a colourful spectacle.

There are also suitable hiking opportunities in Greifenstein for families with children. The "Erlebnispfad Greifenstein" (Greifenstein Adventure Trail) is an exciting circular trail specially tailored to the needs of young hikers. Here children can discover nature in a playful way and get active at various stations.

The geographical location on the river Lahn and the surrounding landscape of hills and forests make this region an ideal place for hiking. The "Greifenstein-Rundweg", the Rothaarsteig as well as the adventure trail Greifenstein are especially recommended for families with children. Whether in spring or autumn, every hiking enthusiast will find his or her personal dream route through the idyllic nature of the Lahn-Dill district.
