A legendary cross, a castle – and magnificent landscapeFrom Hammelburg's picturesque old town, we go up to the winery in Saaleck Castle, whose bergfried offers us a wide panoramic view. Sometimes through forests, sometimes on panorama trails, we hike to the Sodenberg, the southernmost peak of the Rhön. Here, the deep crater of the former basalt quarry, the distant view, and the nature reclaiming the mountain impress us.
