Buchberger Leite There and back through one of the most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria. From Ringelai, we follow the hiking trail "Red 1." It goes over beautiful paths to the suspension bridge over the Wolfsteiner Ohe. Rooty and rocky paths lead us to the carbide plant. From here, we follow the marking "Red 3." Through the rock tunnel, we reach another beautiful section of the Buchberger Leite. The rock walls rise up to 100 meters above us. Past the Three Waterfalls, we reach the confluence of the Reschbach and the Saußbach, from which the Wolfsteiner Ohe originates. We pass the Augustin Kanzel and reach the Saußbach Reservoir. Here we turn around and return along the same path. The Buchberger Leite is so beautiful that it is worth enjoying it from the other perspective on the way back.  TOP route, one of the most beautiful in the Bavarian Forest.
A little test of courage – crossing the stream over the narrow suspension bridge is nerve-wracking.

Adventure hiking trail "Man and Nature in the Buchberger Leite" The eight-kilometer themed trail invites you to an exciting hike. Between Freyung and Ringelai, you can learn about interesting and important facts in the Wildbachklamm and experience the special charm of the gorge. At prominent points in the Buchberger Leite, there are information boards and numbered stakes indicating special features in the landscape such as the stream and river system, the power of water, timber floating, earth history (Pfahl rocks), and the knightly family of the Puchbergers, who once lived high above the Wolfsteiner Ohe – today the Neuenpuchberg ruin. The European pilgrimage route "VIA NOVA," which leads from the Danube Valley to the Czech Republic, also runs along the Buchberger Leite hiking trail.
We experience beautiful views of Freyung in the second half of the Bienenweg.

The Buchberger Leite wild brook gorge, which is under landscape protection, between Freyung and Ringelai is one of the most impressive canyon landscapes in the Bavarian Forest. Initially separately, then together, the wild waters of Saußbach and Reschbach fight their way through the gorge and finally unite to form the Wolfsteiner Ohe, which flows into the Ilz near Fürsteneck. Running through the gorge is the eight-kilometer-long thematic hiking trail "Man and Nature in the Buchberger Leite". Along the route, information boards provide interesting and worthwhile facts about this geotope, allowing you to experience the unique charm of the gorge. Those who do not wish to walk back can use bus line 101 "Perlesreut - Ringelai - Freyung" for the return journey.
