One of the most popular hiking tours in Ettal leads to Ettal Monastery itself. The trail starts in the centre of the village and winds through green fields and rolling hills. Along the way, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the monastery and take a short detour to the famous show dairy to sample some delicious cheeses.

For families with children, the circular walk around Bayersoier Lake is ideal for hiking. This easy walk leads along the idyllic lake and offers numerous opportunities for picnicking or relaxing on the shore. Children will be thrilled to see the many water birds that live here.

The best seasons for hiking in Ettal are spring and summer, when temperatures are mild and nature is in full bloom. In spring, the alpine flowers come to life and colour the landscape. In summer, you can go hiking in pleasant temperatures and enjoy the warm sunlight.

The nice hike. The way back from this loop is more pleasant and beautiful. I would recommend to go to the castle and back this way only. The Alpine idyll.
