On initially steep, rocky and partially pathless sections, it goes uphill. The great view of the sea rewards us with every step. Once on the plateau, it later goes pleasantly downhill on a gravel track to Estellencs.
The GR221 is a long-distance hiking trail in the western, more mountainous part of Mallorca, the Tramuntana. Some stages are already marked, others are still in planning, although the trails already exist as hiking paths. This stage 3 has unmarked and marked sections.
This scenic route takes us in the west of Mallorca to the southernmost “thousander” of the Serra Tramuntana. Over steep rock steps, we ascend to the summit and enjoy the views over the island all the way to the neighboring island of Ibiza.
Although winter has just begun, we are already planning the next routes for all of you sun-loving hiking enthusiasts. For next spring, we have again planned the famous GR221 Dry Stone Route.
Join us on a 6-day hiking route through the beautiful Tramuntana mountains in the solitary west of Mallorca. The perfect start to summer for all sun-hungry hikers who want to get to know the well-known island from a completely different side.
Enjoy the warm and mild climate of the Balearic Islands and marvel at the breathtakingly diverse landscape of the island. The hike takes us along the western coast of the country, far from crowds and party tourism. On our route, we climb several peaks over 1000 meters high which offer us a breathtaking panorama over the Mediterranean Sea. The path passes through very varied terrain. From steep and rugged rocky cliffs, remote caves, olive trees, to grasslands with the typical maquis vegetation.
We spend the night in traditional mountain huts and enjoy a delicious 3-course hut menu and Mallorcan wine in the evenings.
7 days GR 221 in October 2022:
The 4th stage starts in Estellencs. First, you go through the small village, then a few hundred meters along the MA10. This is then crossed, and the path leads into a bright forest and runs above the road, first uphill, later almost level, and repeatedly with a wonderful view through the trees of the sea. Particularly beautiful is the section of the path that runs over the lands of the Finca Es Rafal. From Banyalbufar, whose special feature is the many terraced gardens, the path then leads about an hour uphill to Coll de Pi and from there on a wide paved path downhill and later parallel to the MA10 to Esporles. Very beautiful path with plenty of shade, beautiful holm oaks, and wonderful views.

On an angular table mountainThe Mola de s’Esclop is less than 1000 m high, yet with its massive shape, it is one of the most striking elevations of Mallorca. A sometimes somewhat overgrown trail with thorn grass leads up to the airy summit plateau.

Gutes Schuhwerk notwendig.
