The Eisenerzer Reichenstein is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers. It is a mountain in the Eisenerzer Alps in the Austrian state of Styria. It lies south of the Styrian Erzberg near the town of Eisenerz. A medium, beautiful, scenic, and sometimes foggy hike awaits you on the Eisenerzer Reichenstein. I found the route magnificent. Chapeau!

It is a long way from the Sonnschienhütte to the Präbichl. And the big challenge comes only at the very end: we have to climb 900 meters in altitude to the Reichensteinhütte. It is worth considering whether it might be better to split the stage at the Leobnerhütte or at the Präbichl.

Forecast for Eisenerz

10-day forecast
One of the most popular hikes in Eisenerz leads to the Erzberg, a striking mountain with an altitude of 1,446 metres. The climb to the summit requires some fitness, but rewards you with breathtaking views over the entire Styrian Eisenwurzen region. The hike may also be suitable for children, as long as they are already somewhat practised and enjoy being out in nature.

Another highlight is the hike along the Leopoldsteins waterfall. This impressive waterfall plunges down several steps and provides a spectacular backdrop for a walk or a longer hike along the river.

For families with children, a trip to the Grünsee hut at the foot of the Polsterberg is particularly suitable. From here, various circular walks can be undertaken that are suitable for both small and large hiking enthusiasts. Along the way there are many opportunities to picnic or simply enjoy the idyllic landscape.

The best time for hiking in Eisenerz is especially in spring and summer, when the temperatures are pleasantly mild and nature has unfolded its full splendour. Autumn also offers the opportunity to admire the colourful foliage in the surrounding forests.
