Hikes in Deaux

A peaceful walk with no difficulties between three villages including Vézénobres, listed as one of the "most beautiful villages of France".

Vézénobres is a town with 1,816 residents, situated on a hill on the site of a former oppidum. The town was a strategically important location between the Cévennes and Provence. It was inhabited successively by the Ligurians, Celts, and Romans. A Roman road built there developed in the Middle Ages into the “Chemin de Régordane,” a trade route and pilgrimage path connecting the Mediterranean coast with northern France. > We start at parking lot01 and walk up to the town center. We’ll return later to the square in front of City Hall 02, which features an old fountain surrounded by bars and restaurants. The trail remains quite close to civilization all the way to the Château de Calvière. Then we leave the village via a small road and continue hiking along vineyards. From the “Le Serre” signpost, a very scenic stretch of trail leads to Martignargues 03. We only pass through the edge of the village and continue our hike across a bridge to St Étienne de l’Olm 04. In the village, we need to pay close attention, as there are two signposts there. We keep sharply to the left. We quickly leave the village and walk through a valley along a stream. From “Combe d’Esperasses,” we leave the wider paths and branch off onto a trail. At Gaussen 05, we cross a country road. Passing a few picnic tables and a lookout point, we reach the first houses of Vézénobres and return to the town hall 02. There, we can stop for a break or return to our starting point 01 via the same route.

Rando sans difficulté. Chemin un peu caillouteux par moment. Très agréable en arrière saison (il y a des parties non ombragées).  La crête au-dessus de Deaux est interdite aux motos et quads.

Cette petite rando très agréable et arborée emprunte en permanence des chemins bien marqués.
