On challenging trails to Lago di TovelA tour that is truly eventful and incredibly diverse, leading from the northern Brenta to the central mountain region. Through rope-secured passages and a short ladder, the route goes over a rocky nose to Monte Peller, 2320 m, the northern stronghold of the Brenta Dolomites. Vertigo-inducing views into Val di Sole and of the entire Ortler peaks are already the first highlight of the day. Then we hike across the high mountain pasture with its karst terrain to the brink above Val di Formiga. The adventurous descent on the narrow mountain trail makes the mountaineer's heart beat faster. Rock steps, scree fields, and steep grassy slopes require full attention. This wild and solitary path above the pristine Formiga valley is the second attraction of the day, crowned by a hearty stopover at Malga Tuena. The famous cherry on top awaits us at the tour's end: Lago di Tovel, the blue eye amidst the Dolomite mountains.

A Powerful Start to the Brenta DolomitesIt’s hard to believe: this stage marks the beginning of the final mountain range on the way to Lake Garda. The finish line is within reach, and the Brenta Dolomites are among the most spectacular landscapes the Alps have to offer. Largely untouched and secluded hillside forests, charming alpine pastures, and limestone formations soaring steeply into the sky above—a graceful and wild landscape capable of enchanting us lies ahead in the coming days. The ascent from Malé into the northern Brenta Group leads through dense and shady coniferous forests. We are in the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park—the habitat of the brown bear and the home of Bruno, the former “problem bear.” In the dining room of the Rifugio Peller, you can marvel at a paw print of the famous Ursus arctos.
