In present-day Serbia, the highest mountain now lies in the southeast on the Bulgarian border, Midzor on the Stara Planina. The route leads over a long grassy ridge and is not demanding but very scenic. The view extends east over the northernmost part of Bulgaria and over the Danube into the plains of Romania.
Since there is a small ski area with a new hotel at Babin Zub (Grandmother's Tooth), access is easy and well developed.
