Detour to a famous church in the MisoxA few kilometers from the Ticino canton border, high above the Val Mesolcina, lies the charming village of Santa Maria in Calanca. Although politically belonging to the canton of Graubünden, the side valleys south of the San Bernardino Pass are oriented towards Ticino. The vegetation, architectural style, and language of the inhabitants are southern-oriented. The showpiece of Santa Maria in Calanca is the coffered ceiling in the Madonna Assunta church; it is considered a jewel and the finest example of a wooden ceiling south of the distant city of Chur, which was already the administrative center of the valley in the late Middle Ages.

In aggiunta risalita abbastanza impegnativa fino al Rifugio (bivacco) Albion, questa seconda parte della gita è assai più impegnativa per la ripidezza del sentiero e presenta qualche rischio in più perché il sentiero qua e là e strapiombante e alle volte scivoloso.
