A quite unique natural formation in Central Europe called Čertova skala is located in the Boky nature reserve, in the cadastral area of the village Budča. There is a legend associated with the boulder that says a devil once wanted to throw it at the inhabitants of Budča, but daylight caught him and the stone slipped from his claws and landed on a nearby hill. Boky is one of the oldest hornbeam forests in Slovakia (220–240 years) and the crown cuckoo flower, a protected and rare plant in the Kremnické vrchy mountains, grows here.
