After a rainy Saturday, we set out this morning for a short but brisk tour from the motorhome park in Rochehaut. The place has a lot to offer scenically due to its location, but it is not a secret tip for tourists. For this reason, I would also recommend doing the tour preferably on weekdays and outside of holiday periods.  The tour can also be expanded and combined as desired.  I would also recommend it for hiking-experienced families, but without a dog because of the ladders.  The rocky paths require surefootedness especially in wet weather, and some climbing is also needed in some sections. A super varied route that never lets boredom set in. It starts at the Papillon campsite, but can just as well begin from the town. After a path-filled forest section, the route continues along the Semois on the Sentier Lamirant, from which there are occasional viewpoints on the heights. After the suspension bridge, the path goes up towards the lookout tower, where smaller climbing sections have to be mastered first. From the tower, you can admire the view over the Semois loop around Bouillon before going back down to Bouillon via paths. After the bridge, a detour to the castle is recommended, from which you get another great view. However, entry requires a ticket. The following climb back to the start includes, for me, the most beautiful part of the route, offering again stunning views and great, steep path sections. Overall, a really recommendable route that I would definitely combine with a visit to one of the restaurants in Bouillon afterwards. Have fun Olaf www.sandalenverbot.de

    Ik volgde dit bijna helemaal. Het is een absolute topper met heel veel mooie uitzichten en veel afwisseling: je loopt vaak langs de Semois en gaat dan weer naar de heuvelruggen naar een uitzichtpunt. Enkel op het einde heb ik de tour een beetje anders ingevuld door de GR16 te volgen. Ik vond het best wel uitdagend; op sommige stukken is het best rotsachtig en gaat het steil omhoog/omlaag. Zorg dus voor goed schoeisel. Deze wandeling staat als 'easy': OK het is technisch niet heel moeilijk en voor een jonge sportieveling misschien fysiek makkelijk, maar deze vijftiger met een basisconditie vond het toch pittig. Erg bedankt om deze te delen, ik heb er absoluut met volle teugen van genoten!

    One of the best hikes so far in Belgium. Took us 6 hours including breaks. Somewhere around 5.3km we needed to take a small detour as the path was flooded (November). To take the 2nd bridge we had to put off our shoes to go through the water for some meters (cold but fun). If you don't mind the 800m up&down, a great track through beautiful woods, lovely pathways and almost no people (November).

    Très belle balade où la forêt se dévoile sous ses plus belles couleurs d’automne. Entre chemins forestiers, points de vue et rives de la Semois, chaque pas était une invitation à contempler la beauté des paysages. Nous sommes partis de Frahan plutôt que Rochehaut pour mieux repartir l’effort.

    excellent hike with some steep passages, offers nice views on the beautiful Semois river. The part between the river and Rochehaut is quite slippery with exposed tree roots, good hiking shoes are recommended (the last part of the hike if you go clockwise).

    Mooie afwisselende route met mooie uitzichten en doorkijkjes. Wandelen langs water is altijd leuk. Het gehypte uitzicht op 'het graf van de reus' is mooi maar wij vonden het niet overweldigend.

    Een wandeling langs wandelpaden die enkel te voet of per mountainbike te bereiken zijn. Precies zoals een wandeling hoort te zijn. Er zit een klein stukje baan in, maar dat is totaal niet erg, gezien de straat er erg idyllisch uitziet.
