A moment of surprise at the Col de BarrancqSo far on our crossing of the Pyrenees, we’ve hardly encountered any flat hiking terrain. Today, however, we’re treated to several such stretches with only a few meters of elevation gain all the way to the Plateau de Lhers. After the shaded ascent to the Col de Barrancq, 1,601 m, we realize that landscapes can’t be pigeonholed and are always good for a surprise. This makes the joy of the scenic descent to Etsaut all the greater.
