On the trail of historical charcoal burning and beautiful nature The Sosa dam in the Höllengrund valley impounds the water of the Kleine Bockau and is now a drinking water protection area. It was formerly also called the "Dam of Peace" because it was built by many volunteers during GDR times. In the forest there you can also find the impressive climbing rock Höllengrundspitze. Afterwards, our hike mostly follows the Köhlerweg trail around Sosa, where you can learn a lot about the historical craft of charcoal burning as well as experience a lot of nature. Remarkable are the many small mountain meadows on the slopes around Sosa, especially the fescue grass meadows, which are (still) lovingly maintained but also threatened by reforestation and natural tree growth. In the second part, we pass a Kneipp basin in the forest. A special highlight is the orchard trail shortly before the end of the tour.

> The hike begins at the Aue01 train station plaza. Trains from Chemnitz, Zwickau, and Johanngeorgenstadt stop in Aue (occasionally continuing on to Karlovy Vary/Karlsbad). There is also parking available for cars on the station plaza (for a fee). We walk under the federal highway, keep to the right, follow Bahnhofstraße, and cross the Zwickauer Mulde River on Schillerstraße. Immediately after the bridge, we turn left onto Poststraße. At the end of this street, we keep left onto Schneeberger Straße, cross the river again, and walk past the Altmarkt to St. Nicholas Church02. At the church, we turn right onto Bockauer Straße. Then we head uphill onto Jägerstraße and follow the red-bar marker toward “Grüner Platz 2.0 km.” Continuing straight across Mozartstraße, we enter Parkstraße, pass the St. Nicholas Cemetery, leave Aue behind, and enter the forest. Passing by allotment gardens and fenced-in properties, we reach the Grüner Platz shelter03. Behind the parking lot, we take the Erzengelweg trail (green bar) branching off to the right. We follow this trail consistently southwestward to Bockau. There, we walk downhill on the Auer Weg, past the Vitriolöl-Hütte (museum)04, and finally emerge onto Bahnhofstraße in the valley of the Bockauer Dorfbach. Now we walk a few meters to the left and then uphill onto the paved Schneeberger Straße. At the playground, we keep to the right at an acute angle and follow Schneeberger Straße to its end. There, we turn right, cross the Zwickauer Mulde, and turn left toward the Rechenhaus Inn05, one of Saxony’s oldest inns. The Floßgrabenweg trail (marked with a green bar) begins at the Rechenhaus. As its name suggests, it runs alongside the Floßgraben, a channel where timber was floated for use in mining. From the Rechenhaus to the intersection behind the sports field06, we follow the Floßgrabenweg for about 6.2 km. We continue on the well-marked Floßgrabenweg, which now occasionally runs along roads. After crossing the Zschorlaubach, it becomes a forest trail again and heads east. There is an information sign07 next to a wet meadow. From there, the return route to the Aue train station is the same as the return route for Tour 42.
