Hikes in Biglen

Easy hike from Biglen to Münsingen.  

Entertaining transition on the northern flank of the Hürnberg from the Bigetal to the Aaretal. Along the way, the dark soil of the Gwattmoos, the excellently located administrative seat in Schlosswil, an avenue like no other, magnificent views over the Bern area, the Emmental and the Alps, and an old oil mill in the Mülital. Some sections on asphalt.

Beautiful, easy circular tour. View of the Gantrisch range, Belp and Längenberg. Detour to the Ballenbüel viewpoint possible. Many barbecue spots along the forest edge.

I started today's hike in Bärisbach near Landiswil with quite cool temperatures. I grew up in this very community and could even see my parents' house in Obergoldbach from a distance along the way. The hike first went quite steeply up over Sigenthal, Ramisberg, Aetzlischwand, Blasen, Gfell to Biglen. I even walked a short section on the Alpenpanorama Trail. On this first part, I had a very beautiful panoramic view of the Emmental hills towards the Jura and the Swiss Alps. The second part of my hike started in Biglen heading toward Walkringen, Bigenthal, Schafhausen in the Emmental until reaching my home in Goldbach. The hiking trail runs mostly down in the valley shortly after Biglen, and also towards the end of the hike, I still had to conquer quite steep inclines. The hike was also very rich in history. At Wikertswilmoos, the Biglenbach splits; one part flows towards Walkringen and then at Hasle-Rüegsau into the Emme, and the other part was diverted by an artificially created canal towards Worb, where it shortly after Bern flows into the Aare. Then I was at a lake that no longer exists. At Walkringen, there is still a very famous house: it was built in 1951, this house was anchored on wooden piles in the moor ground, and since 1951 it has settled 12 cm to one side. Moreover, there is another rarity about this house: it was one of the first dog food factories in Switzerland. At Schafhausen in the Emmental, I came across a long-distance hiking trail that is very famous, the Trans Swiss Trail, which I could follow almost up to my apartment. I wish you an enjoyable read.
