More challenging hikes

Those who want to spend more time around Beatenberg can also choose more challenging hikes. For most of them, the mountain station is the starting point. Even more challenging is the hike from Beatenberg/Schmocken to Habkern, which covers 11.9 kilometers across various stops. Here you will spend almost four hours in the impressive Alpine landscape. So take plenty of time. Highlights on the hike include the edge of the Dälewald, Spirenwald, and the mountain stream in Sundgraben before arriving at the mountain village of Habkern.

The tour is very impressive. Most of it runs above the tree line. You always have a breathtaking view of Lake Thun and the mountain massif Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The view always sweeps over the Oberland alpine world. Here you can not only observe cows on the alpine pastures but also numerous deer. Especially hikes in August during the rutting season are an experience. Then the forest echoes with roaring. Along the route, there are numerous alpine huts. Here you can also watch cheese making.

Excellent. Lovely first part through the forest with glimpses of fabulous views before coming out into the open near Nierderhorn. Really nice 2md half. Add on the extra small loop to take in the viewpoint at Bire if you can.
