Parked the car in the large square in Prato Spilla (1350 mt), we pass the refuge, take the path on the RIGHT that leads us to Lake Ballano, cross the "100 Adventures Park" and in a short time we arrive at Lake Ballano (1350 mt), following the wide cartroad that takes us into the beech forest, the path is well maintained and very spectacular, (here there is the only fountain on the path), we continue flanking the artificial dam and keeping to the left, we begin the ascent always in the shade of the beech trees, the path becomes steeper and after a few hairpin bends, we arrive at an observation point where it is possible to observe the entire basin of the lake, making a small detour to the left, we resume the path until we come in sight of the Green Lake (1490 mt), we skirt the lake, which is also barred by a dam, and follow the path, through the woods, which takes us to a plateau from where we can see the Cagnin hut (1590 mt), from here we can also catch a glimpse of the ridge and in a short time, we reach the shore of Lake Martini (1714 mt), still a short uphill stretch and we reach the Giovarello Pass (1746 mt), here on a beautiful day there is a wonderful panorama, we resume the path towards the "Compione" Pass, walking on the easy and safe path of the ridge we finally arrive on Mount Compione (1792 mt), from where you can admire the homonymous lakes located a little lower, we continue our path until we reach Mount Bragalata (1858 mt), from where you can admire Mount Sillara and its homonymous lakes, Mount Sillara (1861 mt), now our hike descends to the lakes of Sillara (1755 mt), the lakes are wide and clear, and we can see the path on the Dx of the lakes, we skirt them and continue through the expanses of blueberry plants, which, at this time, take on different shades of color that cover the mountains with beautiful autumn hues, passing the lakes Compione (1686 mt), we reach the hut Cagnin (1590 mt), where we have passed uphill, here we resume the path penetrates inside the beech forest, very beautiful and full of mushrooms, continuing slightly downhill we arrive at a vantage point from which you can admire from above the lake Ballano, we pass the sassaia and enter the beech forest, where the path continues alternating short uphill stretches with long downhill ones, until we reach the same path we had taken on the way out, we arrive at the "100 Adventures Park" and after a few minutes we reach the Prato Spilla refuge.

Arrived at Ballano Lake (1350 mt) we leave the car in the picnic area equipped, and we take the CAI 707 path that through a beautiful beech forest leads to Lago Verde (1490 mt), we will not descend to Lago Verde but we take the road on the LEFT that enters the woods and leads to theCapanna Cagnin, among the tree trunks we can catch a glimpse of Lago Verde, coming out of the woods on an airy grassy valley, the Capanna Cagnin (1590 mt) remains a little defiladed on our RIGHT, it is a small stone building renovated by friends in memory of drummer Marco Cagnin, who died at a young age in a car accident. There is a first room equipped with a stove and wooden planks and a second with cots, of course you will need to be equipped with your sleeping bag. Back on the path to the LEFT of the Cagnin Hut we start to climb toward the ridge, we enter again the beech forest, past a large sloping slab we find ourselves again among the wide upper meadows covered with blueberry bushes, the effort of the climb is repaid by a succession of small lakes of different sizes, we are in fact inside the National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, known as100 Lakes National Park, immediately we encounter the small Lake Martini(1714 mt) and the junction with the path that leads to Prato Spilla, at the moment continue our ascent towards Passo Giovarello (1754 mt), now we are on the ridge that separates Emilia Romagna from Tuscany, keeping to the RIGHT we continue towards Monte Bragalata (1858 mt), our gaze is immediately captured by theCompione Lakes, which we will skirt on the return trail, continuing along the ridge, between numerous ups and downs we reach the Compione Pass (1792 mt), clear is the difference between the Tuscan side, much steeper and steeper and the Emilian side, much gentler, the wind suddenly becomes less gentle and requires us to cover ourselves properly, on the ridge is a fairly frequent situation, next stop Mount Sillara, the highest in the area (1861 mt ), in the basin below we admire the beautiful lakes of the Sillara, on Mount Sillara a cross has been erected and we find the statuette of a madonnina, protected by a stone niche, now for the return we leave the ridge, and descend through a marked but not numbered path, until we skirt the Sillara Lakes first and those of Compione these lakes, like all those within the Park as well as being very suggestive from a photographic and landscape point of view, are very important from a naturalistic point of view, passed the Compione Lakes the path descends to our left with signs to Lake Frasconi ( 1600 mt) and finally through the dense forest we return to the starting point.

Splendid panoramic route among the peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. On the way out, you start from Rifugio Lagoni up to the Bishop's fountain, the only water point on the route. From there, carefully follow the CAI signs to climb a very steep part of the path that first leads to two parallel walls, called the Canyon, then to the snow hollow up to the Paitino saddle and from there to the summit. Then continue to the stone cairn along the ridge or along the lower path if the more exposed part of the trail bothers you. The return route is instead along the lakes (from Bicchiere to Lago Scuro passing by Passo di Fugicchia). It is not recommended to return by the more direct path used on the way out as it is very steep.
