Hikes in Bacares

Almond trees, a wild and romantic gorge, and dilapidated mountain villages . The Barrancón is one of the most beautiful gorges in the Sierra de los Filabres. The hike follows an old trail that once connected villages, leading to abandoned hamlets in the upper part of the valley. Their inhabitants once set out on hikes stretching for kilometers to the iron ore mines of Las Menas or El Cortijuelo.

Circular route in the Sierra de los Filabres (Almeria), without any signage. The itinerary will be: Balsa de los Carrascos (near the Collado del Conde) - Cerro de Escomite - Sleeping Pine - Las Morcillas ravine - Las Morcillas village.

Velefique (SLA-47) – Alto del Portillo – Cerro Maria Antonia – Febeire – Velefique. (May 2022 We are going to carry out a circular route in the Sierra de los Filabres that will consist of starting from the town of Velefique and following the local trail Fuente de lo Alto SLA-47 (with green and white markings/signs), reaching the geodesic point Alto del Portillo, then reaching Alto de Velefique, reaching Cerro de María Antonia (highest point of the Velefique area) and finally descending via Febeire to then return again to Velefique. Once we arrive at the town of Velefique, we will start walking from the same town looking for Pasión street, which will be the way out of the town to start the route. We will arrive at the Fuente de los Tres Caños where we will see the information sign of the local trail we are going to take. We will continue and cross a small ravine that carries a little water (also depending on the time of year...) and from this moment we will begin the ascent which will be constant but quite manageable, leaving the town of Velefique below from where we can have beautiful views. We will leave on our left a livestock pen with the classic Filabres construction and continue ascending. We will arrive at a small repopulation area of Aleppo pine where at this point the trail markings/signs are a bit faint. We will arrive at the Fuente lo Alto water spring which is enabled as a watering trough. We will continue until joining a track on which we will walk approximately 0.5 km or so, then exit on our left and do some cross-country but without any difficulty until reaching the geodesic point Alto de Portillo, from where there are good views. We will follow the path that leaves this geodesic point until reaching Alto de Velefique, cross the road and go up the path that emerges leaving the pine forest on the right, thus reaching Cerro de María Antonia (highest point of the Velefique area) where there are some antennas. From this point all that remains is to descend and for this we will look for the houses of Febeire. We will follow the path which is very walkable and before arriving we will already see it from above. Febeire is a group of houses of which some are inhabited and a small hermitage. We will go out between almond trees and broom bushes along the track and at the end of this we will have to do a little cross-country descent until reaching the track we see below. At the next junction on the track we have to take right and soon we will see on our right GR markings (red and white) which we will have to follow until reaching the town and end of the route. These markings at some points are a bit confusing. If we had continued on the track, it also leads to the end of the route but with more kilometers. It is not a fully signposted route and has scarce shade.

Es una ruta circular dentro de la Sierra de los Filabres. Partiremos del Área Recreativa de la Merendera de allí llegaremos al Centro Astronómico Hispano-Alemán del Calar Alto, posteriormente a la fuente de la Venta de Luisa y de allí al punto de inicio.Es una ruta bastante fácil.

Ruta circular en la Sierra de los Filabres, Almería.El recorrido lo comenzaremos en la carretera que une Gérgal con Serón, donde hay un monolíto de piedra y varios cruces de pista, llegaremos al Barranco Las Morcillas - Cortijada Los Carrascos - Cortijo El Conde - Punto de inicio.

Ruta lineal en la Sierra de los Filabres.Partiremos de Area Recreativa de La Merendera llegaremos al observatorio del Calar Alto y regresaremos al punto de inicio por el mismo camino.

Ruta circula en la Sierra de los Filabres. Partiremos de Castro de Filabres haciendo el Sendero de las Cristaleras, después subiremos al punto geodésico La Hoya pasaremos por la aldea de Febeire y por último llegaremos a Castro de Filabres haciendo los dos último kilómetros por la GR 244
