Michelbach Lake is an artificial dam built starting in 1979 and commissioned in October 1982. It forms a body of water of 7,200,000 m3. The purpose of this body of water is to capture water from the Doller in order to regulate the supply of the groundwater from which the Mulhouse urban area draws its drinking water. This artificial lake is a nature reserve, particularly for birds. Swimming and water activities are prohibited, which adds to its charm. The trail around the lake offers an easy and shaded walk, ideal for a family outing or sport practice. Mountain bikes and horse riders are not allowed on this circuit. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
